iPhone vs Android: Functional Comparison

Android and iOS devices are being adopted globally 10x faster than the PC, 2x faster than the 90s Internet Boom and 3X faster than recent social networks. Here the comparison is depends on “how iPhone and Android phones perform various basic tasks and functionalities”.

1. Login / Passcode

Winner: iPhone
A reliable interface is provided by both the OS. Android Phones have “Smart Lock” tool that uses face recognition or location to bypass the lock screen. But it is less secure option. Various Android app’s are available which helps to set the passcode style or type according to user’s choice.  “The iPhone’s TouchID fingerprint sensor makes bypassing the annoying lock screen a breeze. In terms of security and privacy iPhone is better.

2. Calling

Winner: iPhone
A good voice and video calling facility is provided by both the mobile companies. Favorite contacts are laid out much better in Android, smartly laid out according to the people you call most frequently. But Face Time is the iPhone’s killer feature.

3. Camera

Winner: Android
Various great features are provided by both the mobile companies. There are awesome Android cameras, and there are awful Android cameras. The iPhone’s camera is consistently great. But, managing photos is a much better and cheaper experience on Android. Google Photos gives you unlimited free storage. Apple’s iCloud is a disaster. In terms of reliability and storage Android wins.

4. Gaming

Winner: Android
Both Android and iPhone are great for playing games. Both supports HD games. Android has maximum numbers of quality games and these all can be easily download. Android provides a faster update or upgrade facility as compare to the iPhone.

5. Apps

Winner: Android
Apple and Google both have fantastic app stores. But Android is far superior at organizing apps, letting you put important or usable stuff on the home screens and hide less useful apps in the app drawer . Also, Android’s widgets are much more useful than Apple’s. Apple provides less number of apps as compare to OS.

6. Music/ Podcasts

Winner: iPhone
Both the phones are awesome in music stuff. Android has an excellent music-playing app in Google Play Music, which offers an impressive list of free, ad-supported music. Apple has Apple Music, which has no free option but integrates impressively well with your iTunes downloads. In Music and Podcasts facility iPhone wins.

7. Text Messaging

Winner: iPhone
Both Android and iPhone provides a great text messaging feature. Android’s default Messenger app is pretty and perfectly serviceable, but iMessage lets you send free texts and voice messages to other Apple customers – even from your Mac. Google Hangouts lets you combine texts and Google Hangouts messages in a single app, and send them from your computer if you have a Google Voice account. But it still feels like a work in progress. In text messaging feature iPhone wins.

8. Map/Directions

Winner: Android
Android and iPhone both are good in the map services. Google Maps is the best mobile app ever designed. It’s available on both the iPhone and Android, but it’s only used natively on Android. With only one touch, we can find anything, anytime, anywhere. Because of its Google Maps services android wins.

9. Mailing

Winner: Android
“Gmail” is one of the main app of Android. There are maximum numbers of peoples who are using Gmail today. No matter what email service you use, Android’s “material design” lets you browse folders or switch accounts from any screen with a quick swipe to the right. Unlike Android, Apple’s mail app automatically recognizes your Exchange settings, but it takes a lot more taps to navigate. So, sending or receiving e-mails are very easy in Android as compare to iPhone.

10. Talk to phone

Winner: iPhone
“Talk to phone” is a great feature provided by both android and iPhone. Android’s voice “assistant” types as you talk, and works offline. But Apple has a fun personality and understands natural language a bit better than Android. So in Voice assistant services iPhone wins.
